Parallel is a product strategy and design studio where we care about designing products that matter. We focus on planning and designing high-impact products — ones that are citizen-focused, affect tons of people, and/or tackle important problems. We make these products look better, but more importantly, we make them work better for the millions of people using them.
Our Social Impact practice approaches design from the standpoint of building user-first digital solutions for a billion Indian citizens. We want to help create more human-friendly products for high-impact organizations. We work with the governments, philanthropies, nonprofits, and companies that are building products for the next billion and the last million.
While we start with designing products, our job doesn't end there. We want to create a community of designers focused on impact and product creators focused on user needs. Our experiences so far have instilled a deep sense of belief in the power and impact of design in citizen-focused products. We started on this journey by partnering with DigiLocker to improve the user experience, increase the app's adoption and solve major product pain points over a month-long exercise. The impact of our work - a 280% increase in 30-day retention and 7.5 Million new app install.
Great government tech isn't just about pretty pixels, it's about making it work for the millions of users who'll actually use it every day! In our case, the challenge was to cater to every Indian citizen during the peak of the second wave of COVID-19. We got the opportunity to partner with the CoWIN team to make the platform simple to navigate and easy to use for every citizen, vaccinator, and administrator across the country. This once-in-a-lifetime chance to enable the delivery of urgent critical healthcare- almost 100 crore vaccinations till date, has strengthened our belief that design can add value to the most critical government tech and make the lives of billions of Indians simpler.
